My patience was rewarded yesterday when I bought a mint condition one locally, in vintage sunburst. My purchase included the guitar, Epiphone practice amp, gig bag and stand and was a good deal. My 3rd one over the years. They're simply great guitars for the money and now all I need is an ES339 or Casino Coupe for 'the set'.

It's absolutely immaculate, even before I clean it. Just needs new strings. I got a reet good deal so well chuffed.

It's the slightly earlier than current model, mahogany body & neck. Latest production seems to have switched to Poplar which I believe is lighter and softer and will get more dings for your money.

I just gave it a polish and lemon oiled the fret board. It is even more immaculate than I first imagined. Looks virtually unplayed. I looked up the serial number and it turns out it was made in Indonesia in 2009.

My 1st Epiphone guitar was a black LP special II. I got it around 1997-8 at rhe Boston guitar center place. It was $79.00 , if I remember correctly. It was great for slide too, had that "sound". It was a "string popper" High E after using/playing "slide". Should of got graphtech saddles. I got a yellow LP , traded up :)

 

no "full" shot of the entire thing. The head had no "script" , just the "Gibson" truss cover thing, which I thought was quite nice. A very "plain" thing, was great , actually

 

I'm glad I got it, introduced me to "Epiphone" , great guitar indeed :)

 

 

that day changed my life, kind of, for the better imho

I agree. Although I'm very much the novice in terms of my knowledge and ability, from what I've learned is that Epiphone make damned fine guitars for the money. I just 'need' a hollow/semi-hollow to complete my set

are you "thinking" of anything in particular ? If you have any questions if anyone does , actually , I'll try my best to give an honest answer .I probably own , or have owned more Epiphone instruments than most "players" maybe...I like Epiphones...really :) Don't be a stranger If you can , post a pic or 2 , thanks. I started off with only 1 Epiphone...lol maybe, some day, if you have the time, I'll say more...for now...Enjoy your LPSII I still think they are great all Epiphone instruments are well, that has been my experience :) I've been a "novice" for more than 50 years... Always something new and different to learn imho :) dig ? :)

Well I'm in my 60's and had this crazy idea 3 or 4 years ago that I might learn to play. I bought a Tanglewood acoustic guitar and a teach yourself book and can knock out a few open chords. I've since bought an SX STL50 Tele in Lake Placid Blue and now the Les Paul Special 11. I feel an ES339 or a Casino Coupe will complete the 'tone set' if you get what I mean. Needless to say, money is an issue so hopefully my patience will ultimately be rewarded. I also bought a year or so ago a Fender Champion 20 amplifier on eBay for the right price, it seems to suit me.

I would go for the Casino versus the 339 as the Casino is lighter and in my opinion a better guitar. I have a 2013 that I like quite a bit. John, Paul and George all had Casinos in the Beatles so that also adds to the cool factor of the Casino. They are great for that Beatles sound.

Yes I think I'm leaning slightly towards the Casino, but the Coupe 'cos I'm not sure how I'd get on with the larger body. I like the adornments too - block inlays etc. Then the next question would be the colour, probably Vintage Sunburst followed by Natural. My 4 guitars would give me 1) Acoustic 2) Single Coil Tele 3) Humbucker Les Paul 4) Hollow. I think they'd do me just fine. Yes, I know what you're saying, where's the Strat?

The more I think about it, the more inclined I am towards the Casino Coupe. Perhaps the ES339 is a bit too Les Paul for me? However right now the absence of a strat is giving me an itch I may just have to scratch sooner rather than later.

OK , well , I own 3 Casinos, IBJL , red , and "natural" . Also , an Epiphone ES 339 , 2 ES 335 pro's and a Gibson ES 335 I like and play the "iced tea" Epiphone ES 335 pro , the most. They are all spectacular instruments superbly spectacular , indeed imho. I have never played a "coupe" , but do believe it may be quite like the 339 , maybe :) Any one of "them" are plainly put ...unreal imho :) dig it ? I believe you do :)

I started playing guitar at age 6. I took lessons from age 6-10 . Mrs Klliickstein was a "Juliard" grad. I could sight read and "finger style" at age 9 , pretty good , for a little kid . . But , one of my life main regrets, maybe , is that I stopped lessons (summer vacation) didn't play my guitar , at all for 4 years 11/15 and "lost" the ability to "sight read" Chords , well "all" basically...Strange how one "forgets" , without serious, passionate practice , really . Kids , parents..if you "stop" . don't don't ever stop , ever . Play and learn...Take no "time off" ever. Parents , start your child's musical education as early as possible. At a young age , with proper instruction, "playing" and "reading music" will come as natural as reading a book. Training , reflexes and dexterity , "strength" is "built" at childhood/teen years. Co-ordination too. Practice, endurance and passion is needed. Lazyness, procrastination, losing interest...all detrimental to becoming an accomplished musician really :( . One must be passionate , at every performance/practice/ "noodling" ya, "noodle" but, be passionate about "it" . always

 

 

..Kids, parents..."stick" with it , you reward will eventually be "there" dig it ? I believe you all do , maybe definitely

 

 

kids may cry "I don't want to practice" , find a way to "make" them play...Ice cream, a ride some fun place, some "guitar related" : stuff . A new strap , thumb, finger and flat picks , all sizes , and colors ...a couple "slides" chrome , brass , heavy glass wall , porcelain... a pitch pipe or a couple tuning forks fior different "notes".. Don't ever "force" a child...say this , maybe " I do so much like you guitar playing , can you play a tune you have learned for me and dad, grandma, little sister : use "psycology" small rewards and praise go a long way to a little kid , maybe. Helps children learn "self control" and self pride... imho. dig it ? Set aside a "practice time" before "homework " or after (maybe after is better, school first , always_

) but set a schedule, be firm , but never force , always encourage :) at any age , or level of "accomplishment" You can't beat "accomplishment" into anyone love , and appreciation , work much , much better imho

 

 

 

 

off my soapbox...Enjoy playing your Epiphone ...any guitar actually , I try to. Not great , but always enjoy , always...thats what guitars are for fun right ? I don't believe anyone will argue that point

 

6 years old , started playing as well as collecting them Harmony/Stella :) music store was close by shovel snow , rake leaves , sweep driveways 7 years old I always "worked" for my instruments...not luck...frugality , healthy living...not doing things that may harm me , saving...always...not luck , science...and the encouragement from my parents rip family , particularly my x (we got divorced , make more $ that way ..still friends , in all ways , just not married Sept 30 , 1974 haven't left her yet , or she me...always friends and "business" partners 45 years same job great righteous woman, responsible . Are woman like that still around. I don't believe in "luck" , you make your own imho . "saving" and :frugality" is not luck , it s "common sense" and a "science" not "luck" . But , I did get "lucky" , in more ways than 1 , the day I met my wife :) , very lucky indeed She got lucky that day too, imho maybe...definitely Do you "feel" the same way about your spouse ? does he/she encourage you , your children , in their/your "musical journey/quest " ? I bet he'she does...Yes I believe that :)

I like all guitars , What I write and jiibber jabber about Epiphone guitars , comes straight from the heart. I have nothing to gain, here, praising these things. To me , I just find "them" to be , well..great guitars are all great. I like Epiphone guitars "best" , of all, but that's just me ...maybe maybe not...Here is a pic of a few , just a few , of my "other" guitars.. I love them too, but but ...Nothing compares to an Epiphone guitar...nothing...I have had a lifetime of fun playing (no matter how "bad" I am_ ) I have Always had fun with all my guitars...Just something about Epiphones...I can't really say why , or what it is about them , mojo maybe :) ...well ,,other than that , they are great , great "things" dig it ? I believe you do :)

Yes I hear you good and loud and I can see and hear a beauty in most guitars. I never had the opportunity when I was young so now I'm trying to make up for lost time. If I can play a few 3/4/5 chord tunes fluently I'll be pleased with my efforts. In the meantime I continue to lust after a variety of beautiful models. :)
