Ive played it a few times and its a great guitar by all counts.. and I like the more basic look. They are also (well the ones I have tried) often a tad lighter than say a Standard but again I like that.. More fun to play. Came with that new generation padded Gibson soft case, and MAN is that thing nice!! And they sent the black poker chip for the pickup selector switch, in case I ever decide to mount the thing. But sounds and feels as good as any Gibson I have owned.. For the price im not sure a Faded or Tribute model can be beat. As I said.. So much fun to play.. Loaded-in at 06:00 am this morning, hooked-up, sound-checked, opening ceremonies started at 09:00 am, and then we were rocking and rolling all day, alternating sets with another local band. I got home at 5:00 pm, and then there ensued another few hours of putting away gear and polishing guitars and rubbing the necks and fret boards down with Finger-Eaze. This new guitar, this new Les Paul. MAN. Such a great tone machine. I am genuinely impressed, and totally happy with this guitar. She projected fat, warm, loud, and utterly insane tones, on and off all day. Gorgeous, harmonic squawks, sleazy grooves, and an uplifting (crisp) distorted crunch. Elegant, tasty, absurdly-fat clean sounds. Church-like swampy mojo. Shoot. I don't know what to say. Maybe all new guitars knock the ball out of the park on their first gig. But I doubt it. I do know this much; Anybody who tells you that 'weight-relieved' Les Paul guitars aren't real Les Pauls??
