NGD: 2018 Gibson J-45 w/pics

Glad to have a J-45 back in the herd. Had to sell my previous 45 to finance the purchase of my Martin D-18. I’ll never regret getting the new D-18. Fantastic guitar...but I instantly regretted selling that 45, a terrible wrong corrected today.

Always loved that classic burst, iconic Gibson growl and crisp, woody tone. And I upgraded this one with bone nut, saddle and bone unslotted bridge pins making the tone clean but with a few more harmonics. Very sweet sound.

So here I am with three of the most iconic dreads ever, any one of which could be someone’s lifetime guitar. So I’m thinking these three amigos may be my lifetime trio. At least for now. [biggrin]

3 of the grands - impossible to go wrong with them by your side.

Nothing like playing a hog Gibson slope knowing a rose Mart dread is nearby and vice versa.

Except playing a hog Gibson slope knowing a hog Mart dread is nearby and vice versa.

And of course playing a hog Mart dread knowing a rose Mart dread is nearby and vice versa.

Did you notice any sound change after the new nut ? I presume, yes,

. . . . . . . . . Blessings

Yep, every morning I spend an hour or two swapping back and forth between the J-45, D-28 and D-18. Dread heaven. [biggrin]

I had Paul and the guys at Music Villa add the bone nut, saddle and bone unslotted pins before they shipped me the guitar. So I don’t know what this particular guitar sounded like before the upgrades. But based on what my previous 45 sounded like, going to bone has given this guitar a bit more crispness and even some shimmer. A sweet, clear woody tone.
