Boy Oh Boy we have been looking forward to this for a long time!

Cristal, Champagne Louis Roederer, the one made for Czar Alexander II of Russia. Still made the same way, still in the flat bottom bottle:

The case:

Case, case cover, and orange shroud. Like a Gibson!

We had already verified it through their serial number system, so it was definitely not a Chibson champagne.

It is a glass of Gold. You can see the gold above and below the label in the first picture. Pale transparent gold, just a delicious color!

Super fine bubbles, almost a constant mist of them. Really fast moving too, a beautiful crema on top through the entire glass, fast rising fine bubbles first glass and last sip of last glass.

Dry. Fruit. The fruit makes the dry round, soft, feminine. The dry of an "ordinary" Clicquot or Moet is crisper, straighter lines, snappy. California sparklings are linen-y dry, fresh, cripier than crisp. Dame Clicquot or Moet's Perignon both approach the Cristal for roundness of dry, for fruit softness. But this was just amazingly soft even with the really small bubbles. Dame Clicquot for nice fat bubbles if you prefer.

The fruit finishes with some caramel at the very back. Once the bubbles and the liquid gold leave the mouth there is just the most pleasant, flowery, aromatic after taste, then it is cleanly gone.

2 glasses each before dinner, a glass each after dinner. That was just delightful and worth the wait. We would highly recommend it if you are in the mood for stupid expensive champagne!
