BackDoorMan
I play mostly rock and I like a more booming base. I have the opportunity to buy either one for the same price new.

zombywoof
John Hiatt once called the Hummingbird the ultimate rock & roll acoustic. Keef would probably agree with him. But I agree with an above post in that if you want a booming bass Gibson is not the way to go. If anything, the reputation of Gibson as a rock & roll strummer comes from their saturated mids. 62burst
Love Hummingbirds, the larger body gives a fuller tone, but isn't the Hummingbird Pro a bird of a different feather? Could someone please explain the difference?
E-minor7
Love Hummingbirds, the larger body gives a fuller tone, but isn't the Hummingbird Pro a bird of a different feather? Could someone please explain the difference? Yes, , , and the feather is slightly longer, but narrower than the conventional Bird. Eeehh, meaning it's a 25,50 scale and has a different body-shape. Besides the Pro features what the G-site calls a 'Gibson 1930's Advanced X-Braced Top'. Had to look it up as I always forget these facts, , , 'cept for the box. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . zomb - are you sure it wasn't John Cougar Mellencamp, , , nnnaahh, not sure here, , guess they both swang the model. . kelly campbell
I own the Standard j45 and the Hummingbird(not the Pro) I like the hb pro but not near as much as the j45. Just my opinion.
fortyearspickn
The H'Bird Pro is not an H'Bird. Period. It is an 'exclusive' to Guitar Center. A great guitar - but somewhat 'esoteric'. The J45 doesn't have a 'booming bass' - but it has to my ears something better - the Classic Gibson Thump.
