Winecaster
Hey folks, I’ve had this 1997 Sheraton for a few years now and something’s always intrigued me about it. It has a “full burst” through the horns, not the common teardrop shape. It looks like it had a tailpiece at some point as there are screw holes. Any ideas? It plays extremely well and is just a top notch axe. Love it, would like to know more about it. Serial is R97M 0458. https://images.reverb.com/image/upload/s--re1LVkOq--/a_exif,c_limit,e_unsharp_mask:80,f_auto,fl_progressive,g_south,h_620,q_90,w_620/v1509549261/k4nvqkmmtyipvsv0ffly.jpg
Pin
What's up with it? What's not to like? Looks good (very good) and if it plays well then enjoy it.
Winecaster
I don’t mean that something is wrong with it, I’m just fishing for info as to maybe why it looks different than mostly any I’ve seen, with it’s full size humbuckers and horn burst. Jeffytune
Maybe some pictures showing the screw holes would be helpful?
bobouz
The 'R' serial number means it was made by Peerless in Korea, and that's a good thing. The Peerless factory's workmanship is highly regarded. Having the sunburst go into the horns is more authentic regarding '60s original Sheratons. For whatever reason, Peerless happened to be spraying them that way at that point in time. Additional screw holes in the tailpiece area would not be stock. Your Sheraton conforms to the typical Sheraton II model manufactured by the Korean makers, which never came with a Frequensator tailpiece as seen on the originals.
