Knobs

I love the look of a '58, so I bought factory Gibson blanked-out truss rod cover, aged pick up selector, knob pointers and vintage knobs to put on my 2016 cherry burst LP Traditional. The knobs won't press down onto the long split-shaft vol./tone pots. Must be a difference in the size of the hole in the knobs or a different spline?

What am I missing?

I had the problem once I think there are 2 sizes.

There are. Just did a little snooping on StewMac's website, and there are different knobs for coarse and fine splines. Mine seem to be coarse, so I'll be getting a package from StewMac in the near future.

If you have 18 spline pots on a Gibson that's very odd.

The knobs are painted and sometimes the paint gets in the splines so the knob can be hard to get on. The edge of a very tiny flat head screwdriver gets in there nicely.
