Lucille without a Variotone

Hi, here in Costa Rica I fond in the second hand pages a Lucille without a Variotone . Can anybody find the seria number is serious: 94029753 ?

Doesn't look like they usually do. I'd be suspicious of it's authenticity. There are experts on here who can tell from the pictures in the listing whether or not it's a fake.

I'm certainly NOT the above mentioned expert, but I think the Lucille's came with the TP6 tail piece.

For some reason, in 94, they did not follow the serial number pattern and Gibson used the first two digits as the year. They only did this in 94 and did not start doing it again until 2014, and now the first two digits is the standard for Gibson Serial Numbers. Since there is no 402 day in 1999, this serial would indicate a 94.

Maybe somebody removed it, filled in the hole and then painted over it?

I am not an expert on Lucilles, but while it may just be the angle of the photos that headstock looks way too wide for the neck to me.

I noticed that but figured maybe it was the lens.

I'd say PASS plus it looks pretty beat up in general.
