Red 333 Posted December 21, 2017 Share Posted December 21, 2017 So, the thread about the maple AJ got me thinking that I should use a maple guitar in my video this year. Actually, I did use maple last year, but it was electric. This year is a straight-up acoustic offering (with some bass and percussion thrown in). I chose to feature my J-185 Vine because it looks so festive, in counterpoint to this year's spare background. I'm no BluesKing or Sal or David Hanners or Anne or Dan or Buck or any of you other supremely talented players and singers whose names escape me, but the sentiment is heartfelt even if my playing is rudimentary and my voice only useful for church singing. Been waiting for it this year! Also, I get the video to embed by editing the link to take the "s" out of the https. But it has to be the full YouTube link and not the abbreviated share version. I actually hadn't taken the J-185 out of its case in a couple years, except to show it to people, so those strings are probably at least two if not four or more years old. I think I got that guitar seven years ago and may not have changed those strings since then, but I thought the guitar sounded pretty good! Around here ,at my house, It wasn't officially Christmas until my wife put that song on the stereo,played by the King of course, as we decorated the Christmas tree. I loved your rendition and your words hit so close as this is the first Christmas with out my wife of 47 years with us. Merry Christmas Red and Maple never sounded so so good to these ears. I'm sorry for yours. It's inevitable that you'll experience some sadness this season, but I hope you find comfort in memories of many happy times, too. Merry Christmas, sj.
