I have seen this Gibson quality before. Please explain your theory.
Equipment:
I have guitars, amps, pedals, cables, various other things and a strong affinity for short signature lines. . .

The name goes on before the quality goes in.

This company is in trouble.

I would say of all the Gibson's I have ever owned I think I have purchased one new one and that was a LP Studio. Every other Gibson I have owed has been used. Screw putting one more cent into Henry's pocket. I usually buy my acoustics brand spanking new, but the ones I own are Martin's and are flawless. I've only bought one Gibson acoustic (used), and it was a J-15 and man you can tell the difference between a $1500 Gibson and a $1500 Martin. Light years apart. I sold it a few months after I bought it. Paid $950 dumped it for $900.

My old Norlin era SG Standard, 25th Anniversary Les Paul and Lucille were flawless.
The idea of sub-standard workmanship never even entered my mind back then. Maybe I just got lucky.

Nowadays it seem if you buy a Gibson you should resign yourself to either overlooking warts or doing some sort of minor surgery.
You shouldn't have to but that's the way it is.
Even so, no other brand of electric guitar interests me.

Gibson makes handsome acoustic guitars but they're not for me.

I just noticed the side markers at the 12th fret are off center. Gibson, LOL!

Your guitar you call ďPlugĒ either had a re-fret or thatís not a real Gibson. You have no nibs on the fret ends of the neck you pictured.

If you have doubt in what I am saying, show a pic of that guitarís headstock on the back - and also look for a scarf joint on the neck if there is any. I hope you didnít get ripped off and buy a Chibson unknowingly.

Sigh. It's an ES Les Paul from the Memphis shop and came without nibs. It's real.

Have a pic of the headstockís rear so we can see the wings clearly? Why didnít this guitar that has a bound neck not have nibs? I thought they do this to all bound fretboards... You ordered this directly from Gibson or is that hearsay?

EDIT: never mind. I learned something today... just saw images online of ES LP with no nibs... my bad...

Yeah, the majority if not all the 2015 Gibson lineup did not have nibs. I have a Firebird and Midtown Standard from that range and they don't have nibs. I agree, it is weird to see a newer high end Gibson with a bound neck and no nibs straight from the factory but they do exist.

Why do you think that's a fake? I see no reason to think that.

Just trolling at this point.

I still have the guitar. It plays and sounds great and the Gibson dealer I bought it from gave me a very reasonable partial refund.

Some folks just got religion about things and can't be told the truth...

Yeah, I wouldn't be too bothered about the stuff you are getting back on Plug, haha! I must admit, the lack of nibs fooled me, and I forgot about 2015 too...

Talking about your truss rod, it seemed like from what I read that this is not able to be adjusted? I could live with the fretboard imperfection, but the TR being a pain to deal with is a deal breaker to me. This is one of my checks of a guitar - if I can use the TR to at least make neck straight as possible. You just have to know that the TR CAN work for you. These days buying a Gibson takes skills, haha! You don't want to buy something that is F'ed because you eat the bill and are stuck with a repair that could be potentially costly. Unfair, yes, but it's the way it goes. Sometimes, you're lucky, other times not so much.

The truss rod was made to work. I cleaned out all the lacquer around and on the nut (had to do it to two ES Les Paul's). The biggest thing that had me concerned was the off center truss rod causing a twist in the neck. Hasn't happened yet though. I do all my own work and have actually built a few guitars and ukes. Yes, it seems having some basic luthier skills can be quite helpful.

Such a shame one has to be lucky now a days when buying a new Gibson.
