Jalex
I reckon a skilled repairman could bring her back to life. Wish I had the skills and the time.

MorrisrownSal
MOJO! I think this is being marketed by boutique fellas as "Distress Level 31" Id be all over this. Except the tuners. And it doesnt have a strap button - I need that. And a truss rod cover.
zombywoof
I would pass. Restoration would appear to involve having to sand the top. No way am I going to venture into that territory.

jedzep
At the $850 it is at now, I'd grab it, but it'll go higher. My birth year too, Dave. I've sanded (ruined) tops before. It's the only way I've been able to afford the good players.
BluesKing777
I’ll have it! Top can stay like that (Level seven distress) and my luthier can torture the rest into something like my old L-0. BluesKing777.
Morkolo
That's a rough one, I'd prefer an old Norlin era in good shape for a few dollars more.
jedzep
I have to correct my previous statement. I have sanded tops that had already been ruined, is what I meant to say. It's still at mid 800 dollar range. Anybody want to guess the final price? I'm thinking $1900.

jedzep
No, but I feel it would have killer tone, of course after 1500 bucks of structural work. There's 4 days to go. I'm trying to justify just paying $260 for 40's Grovers for my Martin.

E-minor7
Anybody want to guess the final price? I'm thinking $1900. Hmmm, , , not sure it'll climb that high. I say 15. There's a member on the AGF selling his 50's J-50 for that. Seems a much better buy: Surely prefered to the 52'er, which all in all seems to have gone a little skizo - notice the tuners. Still early 50's are rated higher than the last half of the decade. Light/Heavier. Hard to judge, , , really. . The uplifting thought is that there are people around willing to take the challenge. The results always exciting for the rest of us.

Seems a much better buy: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=486712 That also would look nice next to my LG3, but I don’t think it would be enough of a challenge to interest my luthier. He would probably change the strings and give it back to me.... Whereas that other guitar would have him and the apprentice and even the father poking all over it like crows! BluesKing777. jedzep
Replacing the tuners is the easiest (and least expensive) part. R and R'ing the back to get to the bracing is the tricky part. If it stays around 1500 BK, I'll be fondling my AMEX card.
