My White Epiphone 50th Anniversary '1961' SG with P-90's could qualify as a reissue, maybe.. Made in 2011 this guitar is incredible and is extremely well made following the 61 spec's very closely.. It is my hottest playing high quality Epiphone. Based on the G400 it has the 500k pots and fat caps just like the 61. The Alnico P-90's scream. The machine heads are Wilkinson Vintage 14:1 with Ivory Buttons, the same style as the original, with the Wrap-Araound "Lightning Bar" Combination Stopbar/Bridge. It has a Rosewood Fingerboard on mahogany Slim Taper neck. The body is solid mahogany on the White, Yellow and Black. The Red is translucent and may have a veneer, but the body underneath is still solid mahogany. I guess what I am trying to say here is that this guitar is made really well, I have had mine for over a year and has played extremely well ever since I took it out of the box. My Epi Blueshawk had to be tweaked a bit and replace the tuners. The 61 SG reissue everything on it or in is high quality.. When they came out they had a relatively high price tag. But now, when you can find them, they are priced much lower and well worth it..

Your Avitar looks like a Pelham Blue 61 SG standard, "reissue"?

SG standard yes, SG "special" no.

Pelham Blue = a double no.

Everyone has their own preferences. I grew very tired of double coil pickups a long time ago and prefer the wider tone ranges of the P-90's. :-({|=

A 61 style SG standard is cool in any color..[thumbup]

But for me I will stick my 61 Special because it has my pickups, I might buy another one in any color I can find..

To be honest it isn't the P90s that I dislike (I like P90s!) but rather the "dot" fingerboard rather than the crown inlays.

But I really do not like Pelham Blue one little bit.

To be a 61 look alike it has to have the "dot"... :)

Actual Gibson 61 SG Specials sell for about $4,000+, the Epiphone 61 SG Special goes for about 10% of that.. :)

Hmmm.. I had a cherry SG Junior that looked just like it. It might have been a an 06 or 07.. Mine played really well, it had an unusually silky fast neck..

One thing though, it had a very large access plate on the back, that bugged me..

The first time I picked up the Epi 61 Special it felt like a Gibson.. :)

I also have a thing for Double Cuts...

I love P-90 guitars specially DC's but I wonder why you keep posting Gibson's in the Epiphone forum?

I owned quite a few US made Epiphone's like batwing Coronets and Wilshires, at that time I preferred them over Gibson's. Currently I own several of both. Epiphone's are license built Gibson's, just more affordable. My Epiphone 61 SG special I would hold up against any Gibson.... and I do..

Epiphone is a "Gibson Brand" and owned by Gibson. Why do you think Epiphone is on this Gibson Forum? Are you getting enough oxygen?

Here is a Gibson Custom Shop Epiphone 62 Wilshire USA Reissue..

The point of all this is Epiphone has been in partnership with Gibson since the 1940s and has always had its own unique designs separate from the Gibson models. Gibson gives the technical information for popular models that are to be produced. While providing an umbrella of copyright protection to Epiphone.

Nice Photoshop style image enhancement. I started looking at this photo closer and noticed that the pixels in the poorly fitting pickguard don't seem to match. There are other anomalies in it as well.
