I just received my Black 50th Anniversary 61 SG Special I picked up on eBay.. Produced in 2011 these Guitars are 7 years old, I think I was really lucky with the Black one as it appears to have not been played. The truss rod was backed all the way off and took just a few minutes to tweak it correctly. Most of the reviews that report trouble with these usually refer to the neck, but most the new out the box Epiphones have their truss rods loose. So I think the truss rod on this one had never been adjusted in its 7 year life span. My White one came from a music store on the east coast where it had been setup to be played and needed no adjusting when I received it. Also not everyone likes the stiff Wilkinson 14:1 ratio tuners. They are very solid precise tuners, just a little difficult to turn. :)

So the Black SG is playing really well now and I have hard time deciding which one to play. Same problem I have with my Blueshawk's and LP DC's.....:) :)

Very nice Epiphone 61's...I don't think I've seen them before. I like P90's too, but equally as much as humbuckers. P90's have a very cool sound - more crystal like and chimey to my ears if that makes sense.

Btw, ignore that nitwit slagging Epiphone, he is known for being a moron and does not represent the other good people on here who do post worthwhile comments.

I don't think that I have seen these 1961 SG Special 50th anniversary guitars before. How is the intonation on it with that bridge?

The intonation on the Wrap-Araound "Lightning Bar" bridge works very well. One of the nice things about them is that they are a solid piece of metal that greatly enhances the tone.

I found both of my 61 SG's on Ebay also see them from time to time on Reverb...

Oh.. They also have the "Epiphone Custom Shop" logo on the back of the headstock.

Not sure why you are putting Gibson Les Pauls on an Epiphone SG thread.. Are you bored, getting enough oxygen over there in Brit-Land? At least you are showing P-90 guitars.

These 2011 Epiphone SG Specials with P-90's built to 61 specs are produced in limited quantity. The quality of these Epiphone Custom Shop guitars is very high. Based on the G400 with its 61 D profile Slim Taper set neck, the ease of access to every fret is unprecedented. I own an Ebony and a Alpine White one. Will be watching for Cherry and TV Yellow. They are getting harder to find and the value is going up.. :)

Rev 6 seems to feel better tearing other people and things down. If you donít like the guitar, donít buy it. I think that we all know that Epiphone is Gibsonís value brand and that is fine. They still make very decent stuff.

Don't blame us (the UK) for the troll! I think he is French from what somebody else said. There was another French troll on here a while back, luckily he got banned in the end.

Something Rev posted made me think that..
I don't hold any grudges. My ancestors were British subjects at the time of the revolutionary war and I think they were Tories... :)

I am just captivated by the quality of these Epi SG Specials. Epiphone makes so few high end P-90 guitars with long unrestricted access necks. I wish they would produce one of these with advanced electronics like the Blueshawk.

I have been watching for one of these 62 Wilshire Reissues below, but haven't seen one for under $1400 for a while.
