Hey guys!

I'm just hoping someone may be able to help me out, I'm about to buy a 78 Pro Deluxe - well - the owner is convinced it is a 78.

The serial is a 6 digit though without the Made in USA.

I have seen a couple of the Pro Deluxes with no made in USA but with the current serial set up.

Has anyone come across this before?

I did read on the Gibson site that they still made some limited runs in Kalamazoo in 78/79...

Thanks guys!

Hey LP5150;

The Pro Deluxe was in production from ~'76-'82.

Made in USA has been stamped from about '70 to present with the exception of sometime around '75-'76 where they used a decal instead of pressing.

Could be that it's not a '78, Gibson serials were a mess during this time period, best way to date it is through the pots if they are original to the guitar.
