We haven't done this, for awhile. So....what's your Dream Epi? One you have, or want/covet, one you may
never get, but would LOVE to?

I have mine, already. My AIUSA Sheraton II. I only wish (now), that I had bought 2, the one I have, and
a "natural" with frequensator.

I DO wish Epiphone would make a Sheraton, Riviera (mini-humbucker version) with pre 1970 Kalamazoo spec's,
(Headstock shapes, Gibson Truss rod, and 2 hole Truss rod covers, etc.), in several different colors.
Natural, Vintage Cherry, Sunburst, Black, and Dark Walnut! With other "custom" colors available, by special
order with only a reasonable surcharge, of maybe 20%.

So, what are YOUR Dream Epi's?

It's two. First is my Elitist Casino. Only mod was to add a Bigsby (see avatar)
Second, is my modded Dot (changed the p/u's, pots, wiring, switches, etc. after a year or so) then added a Bibsby. This guitar does it all.

A mid-1970's Texan.

I had my hands on one last year, and missed the opportunity to make it mine.

My dream Epi is one I've already had... and SOLD! I had one of the original koa '58 Flying V's! It was a great guitar and I sold it to pay some bills. I have regretted it every day since(about five years!) I used to love bringing it to my jazz gigs just to see people's faces! Not only that but, it was a great guitar for jazz... what a tone! I love the '58 - '59 style with the delta tailpiece and the three in line knobs! I paid $300 for it new! Fortunately, I have some video of me playing it and it's also on a recording or two! If I can ever afford another...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL834vnGlR4

My current dream guitar, the Epiphone 1962 Wilshire Reissue In White....................

[scared] In the beginning Epiphone introduced a lot of classic Hollow and Semi-Hollow Body designs. Also several unique Solid Body guitars that were easily recognized apart from Gibson. One thing most of them had was the large Epiphone "E" on them that usually denotes an original Epiphone design..

I don’t really have a ‘dream’ guitar - but if I did, it would be a Martin, and I already own it.

But if we limit ourselves to what could theoretically be built in QingDao, and if it were possible to custom-order at a reasonable price, I would order like this:

Based on a Sheraton, but the neck 3-piece ‘mahogany’ rather than maple (with two maple veneer between the ‘mahogany’). Thinnest possible poly finish. Fralin Humbuckers, Bourns sealed pots, Switchcraft switch/jack. Faber hardware, with hardened steel bushings. Tusq or bone nut. Schaller ST-6K tuners. Simpler headstock. Split parallelogram inlay. Thinner laminate (3-layer? Probably not possible). Jack on the side. Access hatch on the back to get to the wiring harness.

That would do it for me.

Steven

The four I have right now pretty much do it for me (3 Terada, 1 Kalamazoo).

But if I allow myself to dream a little bit:

A Terada made short-scale Elitist Byrdland, with the following changes:
> 16 frets clear of the body.
> One floating P90-type pickup.
> Early '60s Epi headstock shape.
> Gibsons: '22 "A" Mandolin / '66 ES 125T / '90 Tennessean / '00 J-100 Xtra
'02 J-45 Rosewood / '02 SG Faded-moon / '09 ES 339 / '10 ES 330L
'11 ES 335-P90s / '12 ES 330 VOS / '12 LP Special / '12 J-185
'13 LG2-AE / '13 Midtown Kalamazoo / '14 J-15 / '15 J-50 CS
> Epis: '66 FT45n Cortez / '00 AIUSA-John Lee Hooker 1964 Sheraton
'05 McCartney 1964 Texan (Terada-Elitist) / '09 Elitist 1965 Casino
> Martins: '00 OOO-16 / '01 Custom Rosewood D / > Ibanez: '81 M-340
> Guilds: '73 F-30R / '74 F-40 / '76 G-37 / '92 D-6 / '94 JF-30 / '97 Starfire
'14 Savoy A-150b / > Breedlove: '10 American Series OO Mandolin

Yes sir, it sure was.
FT-145, from 1976 if I recall correctly.

Felt just right, and I sat and thought on it too long.
When I went back to get it, the thing was gone.

Here's mine: Elitist Broadway. It's as close to an L-5 as I ever need to get. It actually plays and sounds better than some Gibsons I've played.

In terms of investment, I wish I'd gone out and bought a handful of IBJL Casinos and put them in the spare room. This thought did occur to me when they were new and available. From what I can see, for Chinese manufactured Epis, they now go for silly money on eBay and Reverb.

Saw one on Reverb recently for $1000. And that was a refurbished one with a headstock with the "Used" stamp! Had been played a fair bit, too. It seemed to sell quickly. "Mint" ones go for crazy money.

Interesting , I do have a IBJL Casino and , that being said , the thing is a truly spectacular electric guitar . I can't say much more about that , than that :) I wonder ? how much it might fetch . I have played it only a few hours , if that as I do play the P93 Rivieras , well , all the time :) hmm , I wonder . I have other Casinos , hmm . It is too nice of an electric guitar to let go , well that is what I think about that , presently , what do you believe about that ? Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

I like to post photos , as well as play these things . I don't believe anyone minds if I do just that :) :)
peace :)

Hmm...having said that, among the ones at silly prices, there are still ones for sale at around $900:

https://reverb.com/i...ity-p90-pickups

Perhaps I'd have needed to hang on to those IBJLs I never bought for a few more years, yet!

But I buy guitars to play and enjoy, not as investments, so this is all hypothetical!

I'm currently saving up for the Prophecy Les Paul Custom Plus GX in Black Cherry...it's like Epi's answer to the Gibson Les Paul Supreme-except I'm head over heels for the Prophecy! Posted Image

I can't wait to get my hands on it, hopefully sometime later this year

I prefer the smaller headstocks too. I was really interested in getting a 339 but couldn't get past the large headstock. Wish they would put something like the Wildkat style headstock on the 339.
