OldCowboy
Muffled VS Honeyed ? The H'Bird does certainly not 'ring like a bell', nor like a Taylor. Each note chimes more than rings. But it's my pick when it comes to singing. Unamplified, of course. And that's a good thing if you like what you're hearing! The H'bird enjoys a solid popularity that suggests a lot of folks really do enjoy its response. I have no argument with that, but it makes me want to change strings all the time☺
generaldreedle
The HB I tried at the store sounded muffled even after new strings, it's why I got the Southern Jumbo.
Jinder
My ‘90 Bird is warm and woody, which could be heard as muffled to some ears perhaps, but to me it’s smooth, articulate and beautiful. It’s not brash or zingy like my Maple boxes, but sits under a vocal beautifully. Sounds wonderful plugged in, too. I sometimes find myself missing the Sturm-und-Drang of Maple, so it’s great to switch to and fro. Absolutely love both my Birds though!
