uncle fester
Hi folks - I've gone through a couple local luthiers, and have yet to find someone that overly impresses me. I've got recommendations on a couple about an hour from where I live (thanks Kid blast!) but would prefer to find someone closer. If any of you had to begin a search for a new luthier - how would you go about it? Thank you again for any input - rgds - billroy

j45nick
Count yourself lucky if all you have to do is drive an hour. I drive three hours to get to the guy who works on my guitars, but he's worth it. But I'm in Florida, which doesn't help you.
uncle fester
I'm in Uxbridge MA (right in between Providence RI and Worcester MA). The input on 1 hr being close is good as well, helps put things into perspective. Rgds - billroy
zombywoof
An hours drive is nothing. I used to drive almost three hours to get to the repair guy I relied on. The last 20 minutes was down a road I would not attempt to navigate in winter without an International Scout and then when you got there you had to wade your way through a small herd of goats. fortyearspickn
If you need to live closer than an hour to a good luthier, you should consider getting a new guitar.
OldCowboy
An hour away is a luxury to be fondly cherished! I tend to be an hour away from a really good luthier and have always considered him as almost living next door😂
