01GT eibach
Some Les Pauls say "mother-of-pearl Gibson logo" while some other Les Pauls say nothing about their logo. Isn't there basically only two types of Gibson logos? (the mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and then the "gold paint" logo like on a Les Paul Tribute or some Studio models) What else is there? merciful-evans
Take a look at these https://reverb.com/news/how-to-date-a-gibson-using-serial-numbers-fons-and-logos There are older versions of the logo that differ from the inlay & silkscreened versions you posted. Sometimes I think an older logo might be used on a special model.
Riffster
My 2014 SG Futura has a silver silk-screened logo that is shaped exactly like the MOP current version. My 2013 has a gold silk-screened logo that is also the current shape but it’s like 25% larger
01GT eibach
Good replies - thank you. But my question was more regarding guitars currently made. Some Les Pauls will say "mother of pearl" logo in their description, while others don't say anything about the logo in the description, but the logos both look the same. Is there any difference? Sorry if this is stupid question...
SteveFord
You are thinking one is Mother of Pearl and the other is Mother of Toilet Bowl? No wonder my playing is so crappy...
