Help Identifying a Les Paul Junior from the Custom Shop

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately the serial numbers used by the Custom Shop, due to the numbering system employed, have a pesky habit of repeating themselves every decade.

I believe the following info is still accurate...

Numbering system used is XYZZZZ.

For those reissues of guitars made in the 1950's the first digit (X) represents the last digit of year of instrument being recreated. 7, therefore, indicates 1957. The next digit (Y) indicates the year the instrument was crafted. As can be seen from the info above a 1 could indicate either a 2001 or 2011 guitar. The remaining digits (XXXX) are the actual serial number of the instrument in the reissue series of any one particular and original R-I model-year. IIRC that type and style of Certificate of Authenticity post-dates 2001 so your LP JR SC (Les Paul Junior Single Cut) is most likely a 2011 example and it was the 1370th 1957 re-issue (all models) made that year.

Just my guess FWIW!

Pip.
