Gibson Homecoming

The trailer is new, the pup is one now and obedient, and i missed going last year. Quit smoking 19 days ago, and managed to stay righteous on a recent 2,500 road trip, so i hope the travel thru Wyoming isn't my undoing.

Any other Forumites going this year? i always look forward to the great selection of new Gibson's at Music Villa, getting to rub elbows with the factory folk, renewing old acquaintances, and making new ones.

I'd love to go someday.

Anytime you decide to let go of that J-45 Legend, just let me know. (don't let the dog slobber on it.)

HAH... that's a J-35 she's leaning on. Come to Bozeman and you can play the Legend, probably even scrounge up the real deal for you to smudge up too.

Where you gonna put the pup when out rubbing elbows? Do they have pet friendly hotels?

I'd like to go but can't stand the thought of a not so nice stewardess telling me my 6 string can't be taken aboard, and getting it smashed in baggage!

Happy journeys and good for you giving up the smokes. For what it's worth I posted one on the acoustic performance thread i wrote called 'itch' - about a time i was giving up things... (personal therapy) One day at a time is what it's all about - keep chugging!

Hope you get to play some phenomenal guitars!

Bozeman is a great place this time of year. Stop in and visit. PM me and I will buy you a beer.

Duluthdan

Shoot me a PM and I will be glad to let you bring your dog over to visit. I live on a corner and have a large fenced in back yard so your dog can have a good visit. I will be glad to watch him if you want to go to meetings and events. My dogs will be off on vacation so I am home alone and would appreciate a good pup to play Frisbee with. I have a lot of interesting Gibson stuff and will be glad to part with some of it. Shameless ploy to sell some of the stuff I have gathered over the years. Things like Guitar pegheads, jackets, leather Gibson straps and other such foolishness. I even have some guitars that were sawn in half.

Forum folks,

If anyone is going to fly in I will lend you a guitar while you're here. That way you won't have to worry about flying in with your guitar. Hell I might even sell you one. I have some very interesting one of a kind customs.

It's going to be a great Homecoming. Dan is going to bring his dog over and I can watch a couple more. I don't usually attend the meetings so I can dog sit while folks are attending if you want to bring your pets. My back yard is all well kept grass and there is plenty of shade and water. It's completely enclosed with chain link so nobody is getting out. I'm close to the Grantree and Music Villa so just PM me and we can work it out.

Lots of the folks like to drive down to Yellowstone and it can be a chore to bring pets in a hot car so I can watch them for a day trip as well.

I have two custom shop J-100's, a Ray Whitley, a Song Writer Deluxe Cutaway a CL-50 Bubinga and several older Gibson's. I won't let my 1942 J-45 Banner out of the yard but anyone that wants to can play it. So if you don't trust the airlines with your guitar I will lend you one of mine while your here.

Hope to see you all in Montana soon.

Hi all, I may be having one of those moments - but haven't been able to find any official information on the '18 Gibson homecoming... anything on the web about what it is events etc. Things come up for past years - but nothing current. Does anyone have a link to this years event?

(40 yrs - thanks for the link above, it builds a compelling argument to travel out Bozeman way!)

The Homecoming is going thru some changes. The founder Mike G. Has had to step down because of health issues so another person has taken it over. The new person has chosen to only E-mail former participants that were in the old data base.

I'm not on the list so I don't know what the events are but it typically involved tours of the plant and several other Bozeman luthiers like Kevin Kopp and Dan Roberts.. There were clinics and special events featured by and at Music Villa. Some of the folks liked to come in early and tour Yellowstone Park as it is only a scenic wonderful 1 1/2 hour drive from Bozeman. Some come in to fly-fish in the 5 major trout fisheries just minutes from downtown Bozeman. There are all sorts of camping opportunities as well.

I don't have any knowledge of what is taking place this year but I understand a E-mail went out saying the Homecoming will take place. Many folks have taken flights into Bozeman for the event and they chose not to fly with their guitars. There are plenty of guitars available to play so it's no problem. There are usually plenty of cars to provide transportation. Bozeman is a small, SAFE , town and you can walk anyplace any time of the day or night. We don't tolerate any sort of gang activity. It's all good.

I believe all Gibson owners are welcome so get a flight and come in. PM me and I can pick you up at the airport and bring you to your hotel. All the hotels have shuttle service and you will never get stranded anyplace. Bozeman offers amazing dining as well as the regular fast food outlets. The Grantree is sort of the headquarters and they have a nice clean safe casino, restaurant and bar. It's all a lot of fun and there are plenty of folks to take care of you so.... Come out to the "Treasure State".
