A few years ago a friend said here's the best ballad ever written and then played The Sky Above, The Mud Below. A while back I believe I posted the duet Russell did with Ramblin' Jack Elliot on the "The Sky Above the Mud Below" which remains my favorite version. I have been a Russell fan since 1989 when I was working in a music store in Norman, OK and Rounder sent me a sampler with "Road to Bayamon" and "U.S. Steel" on it.
