Gibson Artist
Never heard of this model, but it sounds amazing in her hands and whomever this guitar player is, she rocks! Any info on what an Original Jumbo is?

bayoubengal1954
GA, The original jumbo is the grandfather of the J 45 . First built by Gibson in 1934 JC JC is correct. There was hardly any taper on the body dimensions. Discontinued in 1936. First built by Gibson in 1934 JC Ah, thanks, i just love the sounds that thing is producing. id never heard of it, but i do like it. Ive often hear the necks on gibbys from that era were baseball bat chunky.

Dave F
They've done a few run of Reissues. Here's one from 1994 but I seriously doubt it comes that close to the original. Supposingly this was copied from a Custom 1934 Jumbo and was one of the Centennial Guitar of the month. http://web.archive.org/web/20040816181144/http://www.gibson.com:80/acoustics/1994/1934_Jumbo.html

I am guessing it has a huge pricetag unfortunately.

They do have the make an offer feature. 😀 https://reverb.com/item/6252485-gibson-j-35-1938-sunburst

zombywoof
I have only ever played one original that a friend owned. His father had bought it from a buddy right after he got out of the service during WWII. Apparently it had been forgotten about until my friend stumbled across it after his father had passed away. The guitar was a wreck so he had it restored. I saw some of the photos that were taken during the repairs. If memory serves me, not only did the guitar have an un-tapered body but three un-scalloped tone bars and apparently a rather small soundhole compared to what came after. I think this is the one that was copied but as you say the RI has more in common with an AJ. My wife bought me one of Centennial Jumbo's as a birthday present (Great woman!). Motherofpearl
I’ve had my 2013 for around 2 years it’s a ltd model of 100 that was recreated from Gary Burnettes 1934 OJ. It’s the best guitar “for me” I’ve ever played. I’ve had many but it’s very special.
