Pasadena
I've made most of my living as a pianist/keyboardist starting in 1976, but have also played guitar since age 11. Just bought my first Gibson, a 1960 ES-125TC. It's a beauty and sounds great through my Vintage Sound 112 tube combo amp. Looking for a "sweet spot" packaged set of strings with .011 or .012 at the top and not-too-heavy bass as the P90 is bass-heavy, as is the amp. Staying with roundwounds for now. Also interested to know the gauges originally installed at the factory. Thanks in advance for any replies...!
Versatile
Great guitar....!! Love these slimline hollows to bits....Casino, ES330 etc..... I've used D'Addario Chrome flatwounds in the past....but did move away for IMO dull tones....it's all personal as usual.... Currently using Elixir 11 - 49 on my ES225..... Sound great....roundwound…..but one cannot have everything in this life..... V
jdgm
Hello, welcome Nice guitar. Thomastik-Infelds are excellent flatwounds but it sounds as if you need a set of DR Handmade Blues; best roundwounds I ever tried. Regards!
