Jazz+
I want to drop in a pair of Gibson P90 dog ear pickups into my 2018 Epiphone Casino Coupe. I will adjust the heights with Lollar shims. Are they expected to fit?
Larsongs
USA has Standard sizing & Asian Epi's have Metric... Slightly different. I talked to Lindy Fralin about it. I have a Ltd. Edition MIC Casino with Bigsby & Chrome Dogear Covers that I want to keep. I like the looks with my Casino with Bigsby. He said I could send my Pickups to him & he would fit his Fralins with my Covers. And send me my old Pickups. Then it would be a straight in Swap. mihcmac
I want to drop in a pair of Gibson P90 dog ear pickups into my 2018 Epiphone Casino Coupe. I will adjust the heights with Lollar shims. Are they expected to fit? Epiphone uses P-90's with pole spacing sized specifically for the neck position and wider spacing on the bridge with the P-90 Classic's and P-90 Pro's. Gibson's basic P-90 guitars use what they call a Custom P-90 in both the neck and bridge position, with the same pole spacing, which is very close to the same spacing as the Epiphone bridge P-90. Epiphone neck P-90 poles are narrower and if replaced with a current Gibson Custom P-90, it would most likely need a bridge sized dog ear cover to fit.... Note: There are always exceptions to the rules, the Gibson neck P-90SR and bridge P-90ST+ have windings specific for their position. Also, these have non adjustable poles made of nickel plated steel. The Gibson Blues 90 pickups, used on the BluesHawk, are similar in appearance to the P-90SR/P-90ST+ but the poles are magnets that are also not adjustable.. Make careful measurements. My P-90 bridge pickups pole spacing measure the same on both my Gibson's and Epiphone's.
