Dave F
Has anyone seen anything like this? Does not look like an L5 to me. https://cincinnati.craigslist.org/msg/d/1948-gibson-5-re-issue/6711228979.html
jdgm
Looks VERY dodgy to me; definitely NOT an L-5, especially not a '1948 re-issue' (if there is such a thing) - most 1948 L-5s did not have a cutaway, though some did. The tailpiece is not an original L-5 tailpiece and the fretboard and headstock inlays are completely wrong, the cutaway too. Also the f-holes don't look right and are not bound. The 2nd pic in the ad is of a totally different guitar - compare the sides and that cutaway! Don't know if you will be able to see this but I googled 1948 L-5 reissue - https://www.google.com/search?q=1948+Gibson+L-5+Re-issue&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b No mention of any reissues. Here is a 1948 one with cutaway - https://www.premierguitar.com/articles/23124-vintage-vault-1948-gibson-l-5-premiere-natural
