BluesKing777
And you thought I was giving tips on how to play? Guess not! Trick no 1 is to make the slide out of the bottle after you have drank it all! BluesKing777.
dhanners623
I used to live a block from a restaurant in St. Paul that served a lot of wine and they'd throw the empties in a glass recycling dumpster out back. I went in and asked them if I could take a few wine bottles and their reply was, "Help yourself" and so I started trying to make slides. I got to where I could do about three out of five with a clean break, but my problem was sanding/smoothing the cut. I just didn't have the tools do produce anything that looked and felt ok. Then I read about some old blues guy who smoothed his cut edge by grinding it on a sidewalk. So I stopped complaining and figured that if I got it so it didn't cut my finger, I'd be ok. BluesKing777
The bottle in my photo above (Mateus) are the easiest to make bottlenecks that work, with a long straight neck section......I am told. That said, my bottlenecks are custom made perfect fit from Diamond Bottlenecks who use about 45 different glass machines....broken glass and guitar fingers are enemies! No affiliation but they are fab: http://www.diamondbottlenecks.com/ BluesKing777.
