Gblues Posted October 22, 2018 Share Posted October 22, 2018 I am looking to buy a 2nd hand LP special, single cut in TV yellow with scratch plate, however they appear to be quite rare below £1,000. I'm based in the uk therefore the availability is less than US or even Japan. The more recent specials no longer have a scratch plate and don't look as good IMO. There are a number of the cherry ones on ebay but TV yellow seem rare at that price point. Does anyone know the history of LP specials mainly regarding those distributed \ sold in the UK Do Gibson bring out every year, and if so which Colour? If they do not bring out every year which year to they re-issue in UK. There do appear to be a few that have sneaked in from Japan, I assume these are made in US for Japanese market, are these standard? Who knows about the special Japan propriety model and how do these compare with standard. They're weren't a lot available and lots of them seemed to have gotten bought up by Japanese shops. There may actually be some available from US online dealers. Not sure if that could work for you. Slinky1 Posted October 24, 2018 Share Posted October 24, 2018 I got one of the 2018 Les Paul Specials, double cut away in TV Yellow. You had to be fast to find one. I was watching for them close on Sweetwater. I saw then posted late at night, they were sold out in two hours. I ended up getting a "demo mode", it had a scratch on the back that I can only see in certain lighting. Everybody that plays this guitar loves it. I looked without any luck and finally bought a cherry DC and waited several more years before a TV Yellow one came along. Good luck in your search!! We satisfied owners jump at the chance to discuss them, and it doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things. 😜 I love mine so much, I'm considering adding another one.
