I fly to Nashville with the wife tomorrow. My friend is driving up from Mobile to meet up with us so if we need it we will have a car. We are staying at an AirBnB close to Music Row. On the 4th we, and I am seeing for the 3rd time none other than guitar ace Richard Thompson and his Electric Trio at a place called 3rd and Lindsey. On the 7th we are going to The Grand Ole Opry and performing will be the legend Emmylou Harris, another legend Connie Smith, Jeannie Seely, John Conlee, Paul Thorn, Tenille Townes, and unfortunately Toby Keith and his Red Solo Cup will be doing whatever it is he does that people like about him. Just for something different we might take in a Hockey game.

The highlights for me would be Richard Thompson, Emmy Lou and Paul Thorn. I'd have to leave at Toby Keith, lol. That is one guy who creeps me out.

Enjoy! Go to Broadway avenue also, especially Friday or Saturday. Go to Robert's so you're there at 9-11pm if you're ok with crowds.

Seen Richard twice, never electric. I'm stoked.

My favorite place in the world. Love the Bluebird Café, The Stage and Tootsies. Nobody sucks in Nashville. Everybody is good!

If you have the time, drop-by the Johnny Cash Museum and the Patsy Cline Museum. You can run-into lots of Nashville royalty at those places. I know Bill Miller and his wife Shannon. They own both museums. Met them at many Cash gatherings in the late 90's and mid-2000s. Anyway, the scuttlebutt in Cash groups is that Emmy Lou frequents both places, along with the likes of Marty Stuart, Travis Tritt, and that you might end-up sitting-down with Stuart and talking Cash, music, or just the weather. Travel safely. Those museums and The Opry (the original) actually have a magical atmosphere about them. [thumbup] [thumbup]

Nashville cats, play clean as country water,

Nashville cats, play wild as mountain dew...

I'm jealous. Been in love with Emmylou for the last 40 years ago, but who hasn't?

Been to Nashville once in 2006, for a high school competition my daughter was in at the Opryland Hotel. Gibson had it's store at the adjacent mall, where you could try out just about every model that was currently available. Did they reopen a similar store front after the flood?

And of course we went Gruhn's & to the Opry. Headliner that night was - Emmylou Harris.

Fun stuff!

I saw Marty Stuart And His Fabulous Superlatives open for Chris Stapleton last month. Chris was great but I would have rather had more Marty. It was a Marty party on stage. He is the F-ing real deal.

I live in Newport News, VA and there is a place called The Boathouse Live. It used to be Toby Keith's I Love This Bar chain restaurant bar thing he did. I guess he loved it,but the locals did not and now its gone. Seen a few shows there since it changed hands. Its cool cause its about a 10 min from my house. I can Uber there if I want to get stupid.

Here is a question and I am not trying to be funny or sarcastic and I usually am but not now. Does Gibson even have a plant anymore in Nashville? I seriously cant remember after all the legal stuff what is going on except they have a new CEO.

Have a great time.

I was supposed to go with three other couples in September. My wife and I had to back out the day before due to some family stuff. I had it all worked out too... Gruhn... other spots for "me time"... and a few restaurants with live music.

One day!

I am at work counting the hours till I'm off. Flight at 8pm out of NN to Charlotte then The Ville. Gonna eat , drink, see live music, go to a museum or two, and a guitar store or two. Maybe a hockey game.

Everybody mentions Gruhns guitar shop and it's great but Carter's Vintage Guitars is no slouch and they are in the same general part of town, not too far apart.
