Just got back from Nashville on Saturday and what a blast. Played stuff I ever have only seen online. Played a Thompsons or two, a Santa Curz and a Bourgeois and some high dollar stuff like a $12000 ES-175, an $11000 Tele and a $15000 Firebird. The black guitar behind glass was a '59 LP, the other 2 LP's behind glass are a '58 and a '60. The one acoustic is a Thomson and one of the best acoustic I ever played. The Firebird is signed by Johnny Winter. The Esquire was a '61 and the blonde Tele was a '66. The LP next to the Harp Guitar was signed my Bill and Hillary which I think devalued the guitar personally. If you have never been to Nashville, GO.

Very cool, Joel. I've never been there but it's on my bucket list. Thanks for the pictures. Posted Image

It was insane, Gruhn's has a lot more acoustics as compared to electric's. I would say about 75/25 and Carter's has more electrics compared to acoustics. I would say 60/40.

I met Tommy Shaw at Gruhn's. He was without about the coolest rock star I've ever met. He took time to sign an autograph and spend about 20 minutes talking to me and my friend and showing us guitars and taking about them. Oh, by the way I'm the taller one with shorter hair.[thumbup]

That is so cool! I had to look up Gruhn's and Carter's. Those are some very nice stores!

I just looked up Tommy Shaw's bio and it showed his many accomplishments and that his net worth is a cool $18 million. Money never impressed me much but, now that I'm going broke, it has more meaning to me. LOL

Indeed. I met Derek St. Holmes at Carter's (both he and Tommy live there, but probably not together), but you could tell he was all about the business of getting a guitar and had no time to chat. I just shook his hand and told him I loved his singing on the first Ted Nugent album.

And if that was not enough. I saw The Richard Thompson Electric Trio. 3rd time seeing Richard, but first time electric. He never disappoints. We also saw Jack Pearson who was in The Allman Brothers for a short time. He was amazing, and opened for himself on a National Resonator and them played with a band on electrics. We also went to the Grand Ole Opry. Emmylou Harris, Paul Thorn and Red Solo Cup Guy and others were there. Killer show.

If you had the secret password you could have made it to the private 2nd floor at Gruhn's

They told us about the floor but I did not know the secret handshake.

Sounds like a great trip [thumbup]

The 59 LP doesn't do much for me with three pickups - but that 60 is a beauty. Can almost hear the woody tone of that one just looking at it.

I made the trip to Gruhn's & Carter's about three years ago. Both impressive shops. I hit Gruhn's first & bought this...

Only had enough money left for some small stuff by the time I hit Carter's.

I was at Gruhn's historic Nashville location about two years earlier, I liked this location better just for parking alone.

Yeah both shops do not have low dollar guitars. The parking at Gruhn's is much better. Carter's has a lot but you have to pay. That is the problem with downtown stores.
