Aceituna
I recently bought this "Epiphone by Gibson" acoustic guitar. This is the label on headstock. There is no label inside. I would like to know where was made and the year:
sparquelito
Presentation (PR) Series acoustic, made in Korea in (approximately) 1986 to 1988. In 1985 Gibson commissioned Korea based Samick Guitar builders to begin making a few models under the Epiphone trademark, moving their manufacture from Matsumoku Japan. For just a few years, a variety of Epiphones carried the "Epiphone by Gibson" icon on the head stock. The acoustics and even some solid-body electrics were emblazoned in such a fashion. The most popular sellers of this time were the jazz archtops, the 'Sheraton's. Around 1989, Samick changed the headstock logo to only "Epiphone", with Gibson etched into the truss rod covers. I hope this helps. :)

Aceituna
Presentation (PR) Series acoustic, made in Korea in (approximately) 1986 to 1988. Do you know if it is "solid" top?
sparquelito
Do you know if it is "solid" top? That old girl features a spruce top, rosewood back and sides, round soundhole with multi-ring rosette, black and white multi-ply binding, mahogany neck, 14/20-fret rosewood fingerboard, three-per-side tuners, rosewood bridge, pickguard with "E" logo, available in Natural finish, 25.5 in. scale. 'Solid' is relative. The spruce wood on the top is quite thin, and designed to resonate and help project a rich sound out the soundhole. When we say 'solid-body' guitar, we are generally talking about an electric guitar with the body carved out of a slab of alder, pine, or ash. (As in this photo below.) Aceituna
I mean "solid" vs "laminate"
sparquelito
I mean "solid" vs "laminate" Oh, okay. And I apologize if that earlier explanation was insulting in any way. It's one, solid, thin piece of spruce wood. Trussed with braces made from a variety of woods.
