A word of caution... I did a google on, 1989 35TH ANNIVERSARY GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM. I found a guitar store in Sydney Australia that have and are selling the same guitar and they also say the guitar is new and unplayed.... The guitar on Ebay is being sold from Florida. What are the chances of two 1989 35TH ANNIVERSARY GIBSON LES PAUL CUSTOM's that are new and unplayed?

I suppose it's very possible. I would suggest that anyone REALLY interested in buying the '89 as the seller if they would have a problem with the nearest Gibson dealer looking at it prior to a purchase.

They made 100's of these versions based on the 57 custom black beauty with 3 HB. They were made only 2 yrs 89-90, so collecting them for that reason is very high !

Rip: Case candy was not the thing in 89 !!!!. You got a care guide, check sheet and a wrench.

It's Real people.

Learn the real facts please.

You can not compare it to the newer and different gibson logo that has the open "B" & "O". Sorry but you are wrong. You need to listen and look at it. Even if you don't have a trianed eye to look for the real hard things to forge, just look at the closed "B" & "O" then look at your newer gibby It's got the,, what ,, yea that's right open "B" & "O" and it's a completly different style, anyways you are kinda right because what you are comparing them to, yea they are different. You are just comparing them with the newer incorrect style/era/period logo.

That's a good point, but if someone can forge the logo that good, (and I have never seen one that even comes even close) and then do that good of a job on the rest of the axe, were all in trouble, because these a---- holes have just reached a new level, and you can bet if that has happened, we will being see a lot more on brand new old stock usa gibson's that we can not tell the difference from the real thing. That second one for sale has some player wear, like palm sweat discoloration on the bridge and pickup covers, I would not consider that one new old stock. So unless there is another one, there is only 1 out there.

I don't know maybe they have kidnapped a few line workers from the usa custom shop and are forcing them to make/create these forgeries now somewhere in a usa under ground sweat camp that's guarded with guys walking around with a.k's. Any gibson usa employees missing.

WOW, Some-thin just might be up. you guys could be right on this one. Wow, 2, now 2 new old 1989 stock, what are the chances if they are real. I can tell they'd be real high. It could be a better chance possibly now that they are a forgery, but man I'am tell-ya The logo's right-on I have never ever seen a good usa headstock forgery, let a lone one that looks to be exact on all the usual 5 or 6 points. How about this, there got to be plenty of 80's les paul custom owners here at the forum, maybe they can post close ups of the headstock and we can see for sure.

daveinspains´ possible explanation makes sense... it wouldnt be the first time those ebayers use pics found on the net to sell crap. a while ago someone was selling a fake and when confronted by a forum member (i think it was doublesixx) he said he got the pics from the net as he didnt have a camera, so he searched for pics of a guitar like his.

c´mon, you can afford a 5k guitar but not a camera or even a cell phone with one?

Would it be possible to put a 35 year custom anniversary headstock overlay on a new 3 pickup custom? I have seen Gibson headstock overlays for sale on Ebay.... I think I may have even seen a 35th anniversary one..... Here come that paranoia again#-o

Well I'm not a Buyer...Bogus or Not.....? Who leaves a High $ guitar like that just lay around for 19 years and all the sudden wow I forgot I had that maybe I sould sell it..especially a music store. If you had that in a musicstore would leave it in the backroom as old stock.. ROFL

You might be right Riprider.... I confronted the Ebay seller with the question of how could there be two of these for sale at the same time in diferent parts of the world and this was their response:

The one in Austrailia is a scam, he copied my ad. The guitar is in FL, was originaly sold by Gibson the the music store in Lindenwold NJ, owner retired to FL and has this one and a 40th still brand new.

Just found another one on Ebay.... Item number 200216661893

This one says mint condition... Looks like they threw a few older parts on it like a faded pick up cover and Old guitar strap fasteners but the guitar looks new to me...
