where's the "My LP is better than yours" club? or the "I need a club to make sure everyone knows how much money I spent on my LP" Club?

It's all about showing off your LP's , nothing more. For me it may even be very educational , nothing wrong with learning about someone else's baby :)

LPF = Les Paul Forum

Some may feel differently, but I enjoy LPF and have learned tons about the history of LPs just by listening/reading over there.
The LPF is basically a "corksniffers only" forum. Hell. you can't even join without a "subscription based (paid) email address"! I'm not saying there aren't any people like that here, but we are A LOT more laid back, know how to have fun and don't take ourselves, or our guitars too seriously. There's a good reason why Tom Whittrock (or anyone else over at the LPF) doesn't visit here, or the MLP. Yes, the LPF is full of great information, but not worth the lashings those guys can give out on a regular bases to people who just might know a little more about LPs (vintage or new) than they do...and no, I'm not talking about me (I can't register because of the aforementioned email technicality).

BTW, why no Classic club?:-& The "Classic Antique Club" should be the "Classic/Classic Antique Club".[biggrin]

A couple of years ago I tried to join the LPF to find out something very specific about the mid-1960 run of Les Paul 'bursts and encountered exactly the same problem. Why on Earth do they limit their knowledge-base to people who have a paid-for e-mail account? I'm completely baffled.

Whilst I agree that the omission of the 'normal' LP Classic would have to be addressed before the sticky became a fixture we must all remember that there are many more than a hundred variations of LP out there; the LP Recording, LP Professional and LP Personal being just three variants on almost exactly the same fairly obscure (by modern Gibson standards {no pun intended}) guitar.

Will we have to have individual links to the LP Florentine; the LP Axcess, the LP Ultima, the LP Artisan etc...etc...?

Whilst I think the 'Sticky' idea is very sound it may take some 'serious thinking' to work out the logistics.

Les Paul Special Club? No biggie, I bet not a lot of people like those. (I'm just kidding anyway).

That's right. But then again; we don't really need any clubs at all, do we? This is a forum for ONE particular brand guitar - isn't that specific enough?

I saw a nice LP Vixen get snatched off ebay last week. What about a Gibson Goddess and Vixen Club? I think these guitars are unique (and rare!) enough to merit their own thread. Plus, it would justify to my wife all the time I spend reading these forums since she has a beautiful Skyburst Goddess!

As long as this thread is pinned, it would be good to maintain the links in the first post. Not sure if the OP is still around and can still edit it, but if so that would be cool. The links are currently not working (I suspect this happened when the Forum was revamped recently). I reported this yesterday, but either the Mods aren't monitoring the reported post area, or they haven't seen fit to fix the links yet (may be busy with other stuff).
Regards, T Bone.
