walnut
Hello, I have a 1980 Gibson "The SG" which I purchased about 5 years ago. Serial # 80460591 I've ran across some money problems and am reducing what I have. I really have no idea how to price this guitar and am looking for any suggested sales price. I will be putting it on craigslist and I don't want to rip anyone off or be ripped off myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The guitar has some minor belt buckle scratching which is how it came, and includes a square hard shell case. Thanks in advance.
ksdaddy
I'm not one to quote market prices, I just look on ebay and see what similar models have brought in the past month. It will give you an idea of what something can be converted to cash for in a short time span. I had SG fever a couple months ago (didn't get one) and one of the models I was interested in was "The SG" just because of the stripped down look. A lot of people really like them because of the Dirty Fingers pickups. I liked the walnut finish and ebony board. I remember a really clean one on ebay, a '79 I think. It went for $700 or $750 a couple months back. A refinished one went for $565 recently and someone had one with a buy it now price of $2499, which was silly. No expert here, but if you sold it for $500 you screwed up; if you got $1000 you should dance in the street. Anywhere in between would seem okay. That Blues Guy
Just go look around on eBay and you should find a ball park price to sell it for.
