jdosher
I'd like to put locking tuning machines on an ES-339. Which models are good options? I'm looking for a drop-in replacement, as I'd rather not ream out the peg holes. I like the look of the Gotoh TK-0735-001 http://www.guitarpartsresource.com/tuners_lockinggotoh.htm But they're 11/32" and I believe the 339 has 25/64" peg holes. I've had good luck with the Grover locking tuners in the past. The other option may be the TonePros/Kluson TPKB3L Series Locking Tuners http://www.toneproskluson.com/models.html But I gotta say, those just don't look right on a 339. Are there other options I'm not yet seeing? Eventually I'll probably end up with locking tuners, better nut, graphite or roller bridge, and a Bigsby on a Vibramate, so if someone's had some experience going that route I'd love to get your suggestions. I just didn't want to ask too big of a question in one posting ;-) Thanks! -Jesse
Al A
I realize this post is a couple years old, but did you ever settle on a replacement set of tuners? I like the looks and function of the Grover Roto-Grip Locking Rotomatic (502 Series) tuners, but not sure if they are an exact fit for the pegs. They would also likely require a new screw hole - which I'm more okay with than boring out a bigger hole for the peg. I have to agree with you on the look of the Kluson locking tuners - they just look odd.
