therookie_123
Hey guys me AGAIN haha. This time I was wondering about the difference between Open Coil vs a Covered Humbucker. I have decided on buying a 498T as a replacement for my 335's Bridge pickup. However it is offered as an open coil or with mutiple covers. What is the difference? Thanks again. Guest BentonC
The difference is that there will be a plated metal cover on the covered models, while the uncovered will have exposed bobbins. Some folks will indicate that there is an audible difference between them as well, but I won't jump in on that debate. I'm sure there are plenty here who could tear that one apart... I say just pick which one you think looks best.
therookie_123
Thanks again Gibson haha. I like the look of Page's guitar with a covered Humbucker in the neck and an open coil in the bridge. Big fan of Page's guitars. Anyway thanks again Gibson! Nice to see a business care about customers

Mad Rax
Thanks Dr Rock for the videos. I prefer opencoils for metal riffing and covers for blues riffing, I can hear the difference much better live than on Youtube.
