jgolf
I had my Epiphone Slash Les Paul pre-ordered since last month. I just spoke to a Sam Ash representative and they told me they had discontinued the guitar just this week! That Sucks Balls!
Lerxst1281733995
Wha? That doesn't make any sense... It just got released... And the SN is 9 digits, indicating a production run in the tens of thousands per month.... Or at least that's what I surmise.
TWANG
it certainly would suck. I've been lusting.. and I hate unrequited lust, you know.
MI_Canuck
i bet the re-release it but either a) remove some of the cool features (like long tenon neck, or the SD APII Pros)... or adjust the price thinking they can get way more than 699 for them.... which if the case sux balls for sure... cheers
slayer2525
I saw an ad for that guitar in the March issue of Guitar World. When I looked at the Guitar Center web site last week it said you could pre-order it and it would ship around March 15th. Just checked the site again and it's not there anymore. Wonder what's up. slayer2525
That would be my new LP standard plus top in Honeyburst. I actually went to GC to ask about the Slash model and saw this one and after playing it for about an hour decided to buy it. I love it! And I wasn't even going to buy anything yet. This new avatar is a better pic.

Biff
Wha? That doesn't make any sense... It just got released... And the SN is 9 digits' date=' indicating a production run in the [u']tens[/u] of thousands per month.... Or at least that's what I surmise. I believe the serial number isn't limited to one production run, that would probably be the total number of (Epiphone) guitars that month from that factory thus far. Manboy
I had my Epiphone Slash Les Paul pre-ordered since last month. I just spoke to a Sam Ash representative and they told me they had discontinued the guitar just this week! That Sucks Balls! Dude if that's the case then that sucks a huge one. I was too slow to pre-order it so i never got the chance. That's not fair to get us all excited about this awesome looking guitar and then discontinue it just before they release it > Looks like we'll be getting a watered down version. Like Canuck said, they probably realized what a deal they were giving us and had to either up the price or water down the features. Gosh my dreams have been shattered lol. JamesPaul
Are there Epiphone Employees/Spokespeople here on the new forum? Some of the other forums I'm on do have members who are employees. I understand all the usual disclaimers that go along with such a setup. However, it is typically a good opportunity for the factory reps to chime in and shed some reality on situations like these for the disappointed consumers. With that said, the new Slash release was a bit of a roller coaster ride from the start. It was on the web site, it was off the web site, it was on, it was off. I saw two different release dates at one point. Lots of rumors flying on various forums. The personal experiences listed above echo this. This is strictly my speculation but I've seen these things happen in the past due to legal/licensing details that were missed on the front end or logistics/supply chain issues. I've seen some pan out as limited production runs or delays to market respectively. I personally am hoping for the latter in this case. This one should be a monster, especially at the prices I was hearing!

Well the representative told me she's going to get in touch with Gibson and let me know if theres a re-release of somekind. And I even made payments on the credit card already! [/quote'] So you're saying the SN represents the total output of all models that month? I thought the production number in the SN was representative of that model, only... For example, my Casino has a production # of 2340, so I take that to mean it's the 2,340th Casino made that month..

Biff
That's the way I undestand it too. Hmm yeah, it could be so. Total number of LPs that month, then? I don't believe two similar guitars would have the same serial number...
MadMan
what about changing the pickups on a Epiphone LP to SD alnico 2 pro ? will it sound like the Epiphone Slash sig LP ? just curious .. when it comes to sweden.. if it ever does.. I buy one
JamesPaul
The SD A2Ps on a LP would get you as close as possbile, if you are really after Slash's tone. IMO Slash's amp contributes more to his tone after those two factors than anything else does. I have got candidate LPs and could get the pups, yet I still find myself GASing for one of these sig models anyway.
MI_Canuck
check this out... http://www.slashsworld.com/index.php under the "3: The Epiphone Slash Les Paul".... "... out of the $1464 you spent." (dunno if that's the MSRP or will be the actual street price... ) found this... http://www.guitarworld.com/article/slash_partners_with_epiphone_on_new_signature_les_paul_standard_top MSRP was supposed to be $1165... and wasn't GC/MF supposed to be selling them for like 699 or 799??? and then there's this blurb about the Gibson CEO over in the ride hand column... The campaign is so important to Henry Juszkiewicz, chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar, that he is taking the company’s exciting Slash guitars off the market to create even more hype around the new ones. hmmmm...
