Caleb Followill' date='the lead vocalist of The Kings of Leon, plays one of those,it`s a sort of cheaper version of the 335,or possibly the 330,was the guitar hollow or did it have a centre block?,sounds good though!.[/quote']

Not sure on the center block or not. I was kind of struck a little by it just having 1 f-hole.

I know this is the Epiphone forum' date=' but a lady brought in a Gibson ES-325 to class tonight. What a sweet guitar. She said she bought it used back in the early to mid '70's. Cherry red. Wow, what a treat to see and hear that. Just had to share.[/quote']

Those were fully hollow body. This was a Norlin-era model from about 1970-1973 with a single "F" hole and the controls mounted on a plastic front plate to save production costs. Kind of a unique model in that it was fully hollow like a ES-330/Casino but had mini humbuckers-the only Gibson thin line to have them. The cherry ones might be kind of rare since the ones I've come across are usually walnut. Not real valuable but it does have its points of interest.

Hold the presses...just as soon as I posted that my phone rang and I said what I had just posted and the fellow on the other end of the line said no, he thought they had a center block and were intended as a budget model ES-335 and I do respect his knowledge so that part hasn't been determined..he also said they were around until about 1976. More to follow as information becomes available.

OK...it seems there were two similar models, the ES-320 which was fully hollow but thinner than the typical thin lines (like the old ES-120 which it was intended to update) and it had black binding and Gibson single coils (not P-90's) and the ES-325 which had the center block and mini humbuckers. Only here folks, real time updating and verification of information.

From what I understand, they were made between 1972 and 1979... They go for about $1,000-$1,200 on the vintage market, depending on color and condition... But someone's got a walnut one on eBay with a $2,199 BIN if anyone's interested! Starting bid at $1,799!

It's also a good place to lose your shirt if you don't know what's what.

Yeah, a pretty knowledgeable guy I know just said "about a grand"...and said early to late 70's so '72- to '79 works for me.

Yep, that's the one. Also, I didn't get to hold or play it but, it looked like it might be the narrowest guitar I'd ever seen at the nut.
