wwpete521281734008
I'm building a wiring harness for an Epiphone Dot. Is 20 gauge wire too heavey for wiring pot to pot, to the 3-way switch and to the input jack?
Nickblues1
Most of the time 22 gauge wire is used by manufacturers.
RotcanX
Yeah, the cloth wire I use is 22 gauge. However 20 gauge won't do any harm. Just be sure to use stranded wire so that it's not too stiff. Actually the best would be to use shielded wire like the stuff you can get from allparts: http://www.allparts.com/store/electronics-wire-gw-0837-000,Product.asp ...this is the "vintage" stuff. wwpete521281734008
Here's a great tip I received from another website: "Then I learned a trick from a very wise man. Telephone wire - you know the four thin, solid wires, encased in beige plastic that go to your phone jack. Small, good conductivity, easy to work with, and since it is rigid it is excellent at staying in just the position you need while you are busy trying to shoehorn everything back into the cavity."
