Depends on what kind of noise you wanna make... You mentioned Bill Wyman in the other thread.. If you're going for that kind of tone, you should get flats... Just make sure you get short-scale strings.. I've got RotoSound flat-wounds on my Viola bass... They sound pretty good... I actually had a hard time finding short-scale, light gauge flats... At least ones that didn't cost a fortune (LaBella, Pyramid, Thomastic-Infeld, etc..), so I kinda had to get the RotoSounds... But I like 'em..

If you want short scale roundwounds very close to 45-105 then these are the ones I use and can recommend, very good price, last a long time, have excellent (normal) tension, they feel good and sound great on my Allen Woody Rumblekat.
