If you're going for that kind of tone, you should get flats... Just make sure you get short-scale strings.. I've got RotoSound flat-wounds on my Viola bass... They sound pretty good... I actually had a hard time finding short-scale, light gauge flats... At least ones that didn't cost a fortune (LaBella, Pyramid, Thomastic-Infeld, etc..), so I kinda had to get the RotoSounds... Freuds_cat Posted March 5, 2008 Share Posted March 5, 2008 If you want short scale roundwounds very close to 45-105 then these are the ones I use and can recommend, very good price, last a long time, have excellent (normal) tension, they feel good and sound great on my Allen Woody Rumblekat.
