Unless my eyes are deceiving me' date=' it looks like the wood is different, there's more inlay work on the RA and the RA also has the gold hardware.[/quote']

Both have the same wood and hardware. It's the abalone inlay, as the others have said.

I have the EF-500R, and would not take anything for it! Lovely guitar, easy to play and sounds wonderful. Lives on my Living Room wall, next to the antique German Wallclock, so it is easy to take down and play.

Hi Pete,

I also own an EF-500RVS and I agree with you. I think it's the only instrument I have owned so far that I'm sure I will never "let go". I see / hear its limits but the tone is so sweet and warm, the playability so easy that it's inbeatable.

After playing it for 2 years I'm so glad I found it!

Ciao

Giovanni: I agree completely. I own several guitars (she who must be obeyed says too many!) There are only three that I own which I have no intention of selling - ever! Two are Epiphones - the EF-500R and a 1994 Blues Master. One is an off-brand - Taylor is on the headstock, I think!
