Face it, the funnest part of playing the guitar is soloing. If anything, it's definitely the most expressive aspect of guitar playing, and gives players the ability to put their own personal stamp on any song.

That's why learning how to spice up your solos is key to getting complete satisfaction out of playing your guitar. To accomplish this, you've got to open up your mind and think beyond basic pentatonic scales and incorporate other fundamental elements of playing the guitar.

Instructor Peter Vogl, from Watch & Learn Video Primer, believes arpeggios are one way to do this, and in today's lesson Vogl will show you how to alternate between various arpeggios to liven up your leads.

Specifically, Vogl demonstrates how to switch between the Em and Bm arpeggio shapes. He also explores mixing the arpeggios with the Pentatonic or other scales to help you add a little zing to your solos. As a bonus, the tablature for this video lesson is also included.
