Rockin_Dude
Well ,sounds like it`s time for a good setup on your bass, find a good local music store and go talk to the tech.. Might need the neck adjusted on top ,happens nothing a good tech can`t fix for you. if you have a string sitting on the fret might be the fret needs looking at , but more then likely just a good setup well help more then anything . Freuds_cat
Yep I agree with Rockin_Dude. A good guitar tech will sort things like that out during a setup. Could be a whole bunch of things, causing it. Nut adjustment, neck, frets etc etc. If its worse than that then at least they can tell you what the problem is too. Good luck kenzlperk
Lerxst1281733995
If the string is resting on the first fret, you may have "back-bow" in which case, the truss rod needs to be loosened to allow the neck to come forward a bit.. Otherwise, the string slots in the nut may be cut too deep and will need to be replaced... Either way, you should take it to a professional as the others recommended if you're not experienced with making these adjustments..
