ES-339 Available in Other Shops?

Hey all--

Has anyone heard if the ES-339 will be available outside the exclusive outlets anytime soon? My local Guitar Centers have not had the 339 in stock at any point since it was introduced, so it is hard to evaluate the guitar without a hands-on experience. I am in the Chicago area and have seen that GuitarSale.com actually is a brick-and-mortar place in South Bend, Indiana. Has anyone had dealings with them, and if so, is it worth a drive out there to see their Gibson stock in general and the 339 in particular?

Thanks for any info you can offer!

I thought I played a 339 at The Music Exchange on the north side about a month ago. If you have never been you owe it to yourself to go

How's the drive to Milwaukee today' date=' I stayed home Mark[/quote']

Hey Mark--

My understanding from Gibson's PR video and news releases for the ES-339 is that they originally are only offered through four or five online merchants, and I know that at least three of those merchants are actually subsidiaries of Guitar Center. I don't know about GuitarSale.com, which is a freestanding brick-and-mortar store in South Bend, Indiana, that operates "in real life" under another name that I don't recall at the moment. They also stock the 339, but I don't think they are connected to Guitar Center. I was hoping that the 339 might be available at other authorized dealers sometime in the near future.

I don't think the Music Exchange is one of the dealers originally authorized to sell new 339s, although you might have played one already traded in. Is it possible that you instead were playing a CS-336? The 336 and the 339 are about the same body size (smaller than a Casino or a 335). Still, I did check out the Music Exchange online, and yeah, from their virtual tour, it does look like I should get over there some time in the near future.

Oh, and yes, I did drive up to Milwaukee today. It was nasty cold, and I ran out of wiper fluid so my windshield was a mess by the time I got up there. I was over on the East side and then downtown, which is the set of visits that I'll be making every Tuesday and Thursday this semester. I wish I could have stayed home. The roads in Milwaukee were terrible--like no one plowed anything more than once, if at all.

Hey Ignatius

You are probably right about me playing a 336 instead of the 339. My head was swimming with ALL the great guitars they

had and I had about a half hour to play them all. I did ask my local GC store about the 339 and he looked at me and just shook his head. What about the Gibson SUPER DEALERS? I think theres one around Chicago and one in Iowa or Indiana.

Ahhh windshield fluid, when you need it you would pay $100 a gallon.
