Lesson of the Day: Learn AC/DC's 'Let There Be Rock'

Most people vividly remember where they were and what they were doing when a critical "life moment" hits. For some it was the moment they first heard the news that President Kennedy had been shot. For others it was the day the Boston Red Sox finally won a World Series.

For this writer, however, it was the first time hearing AC/DC's Let There Be Rock. The year was 1979, just two years removed from the band's release of this classic album, and it was a tape cassette playing in the front seat of a 1972 powder blue Chevrolet Camaro. The tape's first song, of course, was the often overlooked AC/DC classic, "Problem Child," but then it was fast forwarded to the album's title track, "Let There Be Rock," and something happened. For this writer, the world would never be the same again.

For the next several years, at least three tape cassettes of that album were worn out learning how to play every single song on it. If only the Internet had been around back then!

Today's lesson makes it easy for anyone to learn what is—arguably, of course—AC/DC's best song. We turn to our good friend SoloDallas, aka Filippo F. Olivieri, a self-described AC/DC junkie that can play the song almost as good as Angus. Like Angus, he also uses a Gibson SG and offers some great tips on achieving Angus' legendary tone. He even demonstrates every part of the song's solos, which are usually considered some of Angus' best.
