Guest Gibson Lifestyle
Learn AC/DC’s ‘For Those About To Rock’ (Part One) 06.11.2008 We’ve set the stage for a rocking week of lessons, so there’s no turning back now. The AC/DC album For Those About To Rock was the group’s eight studio album, but it was also their only album to date to hit No. 1 in the United States. Released in 1981, For Those About To Rock followed in the footsteps of the hugely popular Back In Black, and has sold over 4 million copies in the U.S. alone. The album’s title track, “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You),” has become an AC/DC concert staple, with firing cannons usually accompanying the band on stage during its encores. It remains one of the band’s most popular songs, and a favorite among many guitar players. Today’s lesson (Part One) is from resident AC/DC junkie, SoloDallas, aka Filippo F. Oliviera, who uses a Gibson SG just like Angus and demonstrates for us the song’s distinct introduction and opening chord progression, and other rhythm elements. Along the way he also offers up several tips to achieve Angus’ legendary tone. Here’s Part One of today’s killer AC/DC lesson. Tomorrow, parts two and three will concentrate on the song’s two solo parts. So don’t forget to check back tomorrow for parts two and three of this killer AC/DC guitar lesson from Gibson Lifestyle!
