Guest Gibson Lifestyle
Lesson of the Day: Jamming on a C to Bb Groove 06.26.2008 Sometimes, guitar players just want to jam. They want to step into their music room, close the door, turn on a jam track and let it rip. It can be a really simple track too. It doesn't have to be elaborate, and feature lots of chord changes. Today's lesson will hopefully help you enjoy these special moments, when the urge to jam proves insatiable. Instructor Doug Fearman takes a simple groove from C to Bb and demonstrates how easy it is work a little improvisational solo over it. Using a C pentatonic minor scale, Fearman developes a short melodic solo, then slows it down so every student can see exactly what's going on. This lesson, which comes to us courtesy of the good folks at GuitarTricks.com, is more of a guide to help you set up a framework for improving your improvisation skills, which can make you a valuable commodity as a guitar player.
