Current news... (No, Will & Kate, nor Osama Bin Laden are the only things going on)... A $200 Epi jumbo acoustic made me make a decision that has a bunch of my friends questioning my sanity. I love a boomy acoustic tone and between my Martin dread and my Epi jumbo, I have it in spades. Last weekend, I put my Taylor jumbo up for sale on the local Craigslist. Yes, I know that was the guitar I said I would take to my grave and all that, but honestly, unless this Epi jumbo decides to fly apart at the seams, in which case I would immediately begin a quest to find another one, that beautiful Taylor is just a lot of money hanging on the wall. I am seriously considering the acquisition of the cutaway model of the Epi, the one with electronics since my EJ-200 Artist is plain acoustic.
Otherwise, I'm still enjoying my Epi Dot and I play the LP Jr with the P90's, but I don't know whether I really have as much use for it as I thought. Still a great guitar.
Everyone have a good week... that's an order!

I started when I was 9, now I'm 51.
Over that timeframe I've owned a few guitars.
I'm self-taught at playing guitar.
I also play Bass guitar, Mandolin and Keyboard(s).
I enjoy fishing almost as much as playing guitar.
I sometimes do my own work on my guitars.
It often scares me to do my own work on my guitars.
I'd like to build a guitar from scratch.
I don't currently own an Epiphone.
I'd like another Epiphone Les Paul Classic.
It was a nice guitar.
I have 4 electrics, 2 acoustics, several amplifiers a stompbox, a digital recorder, and 2 keyboards.
That is all.

BTW: My wishlist guitar right now is a Gibson ES339. But I can't justify the price tag to myself quite yet. If Epi put out a version on the 339 I'd buy myself one in a heartbeat.

Feel that my current amp doesn't make the most of this so reckon i'll be looking for a Marshall Class 5 or Blackstar HT-5 over the next few weeks, any thoughts on these?

My name is Travis, 19 years old. Been playing guitar now for coming up on 9 years. Play in a local band here in Cork, Ireland called Shooting Saturn. We aren't a cover band or an all original band. We play semi regular gigs, where we mostly play covers. We do sneak in a few of our own songs too of course. Myself and our bassist, Brian, write most of the songs. To be honest we've only 3 songs complete and a lot of unfinished works that will hopefully be finished in the summer. Our singer and myself are currently doing our Leaving Cert (final exams deciding which college course we get into, for those international users unfamiliar with the Irish Leaving Certificate). I plan on doing Music in a local university, I have already passed my entrance test so all I need is the grades and I will be a Music student. Which I cant wait for I am here to meet like minded people, a place where I can take part in discussions, seek advice and if I can give advice. I look forward to getting more into the goings on here I will post as often as I can, hopefully posting pics soon Especially my new Epiphone Riviera when it arrives, I'm very excited to get it
My Gear:
Epiphone Les Paul Custom
Epiphone Ltd. Ed. Riviera (ordered, arriving shortly)

Kustom Quad 100watt half-stack

I have made a very short introduction in the Gibson Lounge, when I first started joining.
Its probably a good idea to do it here too, since, some of us might not visit there.
38 years old. I started playing when I was 15, then stopped playing when I was 27, then started again around 36 or 37.
I have a few electric guitars, and 1 acoustic.
As mentioned under my profile, I am from Malaysia. I didn't contribute much, since I didn't own any Gibson or Epiphone.
I was in the lookout for a used Gibson LP earlier, but then realize, the price, for even a used Gibson LP, is way too much, and a brand new Gibson is totally out of my league. They are roughly doubled the price compared to US.
However, I am now a proud owner of Epiphone Slash "Appetite" Les Paul Standard. Just got that last Saturday. It was scheduled to arrive this coming Friday. To my suprise I got a call, saying I can come and pickup on Saturday. Played her for 2 hours, and loving it. It feels different then my other guitars (of course).
I hope I can contribute more in future.

Hi Tomble, welcome to the forums, I hope you like it here. That's a lovely looking Sheri you scored there, I love that black and gold colour scheme, HNGD.
Don't know if you have your amp yet, both those you mentioned are great choices, also consider the Egnater Tweaker 15, it has Brit/USA tones and everything in between and I've heard good reports of the Jet City amps too.

Funnily enough I don't yet, went to a couple of shops today to try out a Class 5 and have a look at other options. To say I had my heart set on the Class 5 I didn't get on with it at all, tried an Orange Tiny Terror head through a 112 cab and it just had that great 60's British tone. Slightly out of my price range to buy new so next couple of weeks will be spent looking for a second hand along with an Orange 112 cab.

Yeah, can't go wrong with an Orange TT I suppose, but like you say, they're pretty pricey new, good idea to look for a used one, good luck with it.

My background and education are in Computer Sciences, although I'm no longer in that field (I got tired of all the political bs and backstabbing). Now I'm a Security Guard at one of our local hospitals (I'm 6'4", ~275lbs, so it works well for me). I'm much happier now, and all I really miss is the money. LOL
I received my first guitar (an acoustic) when I was 6 or 7 as a Christmas present. My dad tried to teach me, but we didn't jive well as teacher/student, so my guitar interest waned for several years. It reasserted itself during middle school, when I was about 13.
I started taking lessons via an in-shop loaner until I received my first beginner's electric as an eighth-grade graduation present in '81. It had Strat-like pickups, a vintage sunburst paint job, and the neck was heavier than the body. It came with a 5w amp with two 6" speakers, and a built-in tremolo effect. Unfortunately the amp was very narrow, and somewhat top-heavy...the slightest tug on the guitar cord would cause it to tip over.
About a year or so later, my mom upgraded me to a light-blue Strat imitation, and a 150w amp. All I remember about the amp is that it had a single 15" speaker, and built-in distortion and reverb (via a footswitch).
This is the only time that I ever had two guitars at one time. Unfortunately, the first guitar would eventually get stolen (by my roommate's brother), and the other would be destroyed by the same guy.
I went guitar-less for a while, until I picked up a black Ibanez Roadstar II. I would play this guitar for years, until it was eventually traded in for a candy-apple-red Rickenbacker 360/12. At the same time, I replaced my amp with a Peavey Renown 400.
My wife's cats would eventually fry the amp (by spraying it / marking their territory), and the Rick-12 was sold to put a new engine in her '67 Impala. Shortly thereafter, she decided that she preferred sharing our relatively new king-size bed with her girlfriend. Yeah.
Anyway, I've been guitar-less ever since. However, I plan on changing that as soon as Epiphone releases the new Midnight Sapphire Les Paul Ultra-IIIs. At which time I also plan on getting a Peavey Vypyr 75...and maybe a Sanpera II footswitch, if my new wife will allow it.
Have never been in a band, and don't really see it as happening. I just play for the joy it gives me. Plus, I don't think I'll ever be "band worthy" as far as my talent goes. LOL

First of all apologize me for my bad english, I'll try to do the best to be understanded.
Ok, here's Diego, 27 years old from Florence, Italy.
I sing since 2005, actually in a Guns n Roses tribute band and with some guys trying to do our own music (glam/punk/rock n roll style).
I also play guitar since 2001, but I'm not so able to do it.
I guess that's all. Maybe..
