If you ever t to be disappointed, just contact Epiphone about the Thunderbird bass.

I was able to get some sparse info from the tech assistance on this bass. I cant believe that this bass being a VERY impressive quality bass does not even have what the cheapie Affinity Squiers have as far as support resources (manuals, wiring schematics, pickup data).

I did get some info, and I am sharing it here:

INFO ON THE PICKUPS THEMSELVES:

We make our own pickups, these are not outsourced to another company. The alloy will be a little different compared to the TB plus by Gibson, tonal quality will be a bit thinner but not by much. For replacement pickups you will need to look toward another maker. Gibson nor Epiphone sells bass pickups over the counter.

The magnets are ceramic with approximately 10.0k dc resistance. A Gibson/Epiphone comparison chart is not available. I have schematics on a couple of the Epiphone basses (Accu-bass & EB3) but not on the Thunderbird IV. These pickups are made by Epiphone however manufacturing details are proprietary.

If the pickups you are wanting to install will fit the Gibson, they should also fit the Epiphone without modification to the pickup cavity. Gibson doesn’t sell bass pickups but you may be able to find a set in the used market.

Does anyone have any other info than this? When I asked for more info, I basically got the description from a Musicians Friend ad read to me (no schematics, particulars on the pickups, replacement parts, replacement tuners I can get, bridge upgrades).
