You can never get enough practice tips, so we're going to give you a few more good ones to keep you busy for a while.

The key to playing fast—or shredding, as it's referred to in some circles—is to practice your left-hand picking technique, making sure it coincides with what your right hand is doing on the fretboard. Many times, guitarists can move one hand quicker than the other, but the simultaneous movement of both is what makes shredding possible. If you study the styles of players like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, or Zakk Wylde, you'll clearly see that their left and right hand coordination is (obviously) very good, and very calculated.

The only way to improve this technique is with lots of practice, and today's lesson aims to give you several tips on how to increase your speed and coodination. Master instructor Benoit Nadeau from GuitarTricks.com is a shredder, and he's pretty good at it. In this lesson, Nadeau shows you a killer lick, then breaks it down slowly and demonstrates how to practice it while building up the speed and coordination to play it quickly without losing any of the notes.
