Andrew
my j45 rw i think came with light strings (and an in my case an extra E string where the A shoudl have been!) im bringing it in for its first set up soon (to fix a buzz and to..well set it up!) i guess this is the time to decide what gauge string to use since (i gather) the set up would differ from one gauge to another. i like to do a lot of hard strumming as well as more delicate stuff...should i stick with lights or would mediums be better suited? whats the difference in sound and playablility? jefleppard
heavier gauges are better for hard strumming and have a fuller sound, in general, but i think a fingerstylist would go for a lighter gauge being that they are brighter and more responsive to light-handed playing. Heavy = power and very sore fingers ruins the nail varnish LOL! Medium = tolerable on both counts Light = easy on fingers but less guts I use 10s on the J45, 9s on the SWD 12 and 9s on the 335 which makes me a soft fingered quiet person.
